Teams were on fire this weekend as the event saw over 200 teams score over 800 goals in within the two venues of Green Branch Park in Pittsgrove, NJ and Tuckahoe Turf Farms in Hammonton, NJ
This past weekend, EDP Soccer hosted the EDP Summer Classic for 8U-19U boys and girls teams. The Summer Classic tournament is part of EDP Soccer’s "Classic Series" and one of the most popular events of the year. The event includes both teams finishing out their Spring season and also Summer programs starting their season.
This year's EDP Summer Classic featured nearly 300 teams from more than 110 clubs including some of the top programs in the East Region. Clubs included Baltimore Celtic SC, Brooklyn Italians, CASA, Deptford Premier FC, DUSC, East Coast FC, Empire United SA, FC Berna Legacy, FC Copa Academy, Force FC, Ironbound SC, Juventus Academy Boston, Manhattan SC, NEFC, NJ Rush, NJ Surf, NJ Premier FC, NJ Stallions, Park Slope United, PDA, Penn Alliance Select, PSA, Real Boston FC, RUSA FC, STA, Steel United, Stony Brook-LGN, Takoma Park SC, TSF Academy, Wall SC, World Class FC, and many more!
A Look at Some of the Weekend’s Results
9U Boys In the Red Bracket, NY Red Bulls RDS Showcase B2013 White met NEFC RDP Tournament 2013 Boys in the final, after both teams finished group play a perfect 3-0-0. In the final, the NY Red Bulls attacking firepower was too much for the NEFC defense to handle, and NY Red Bulls left as champions. SJEB FC 2013 Red won the White Bracket, and Match Fit Academy FC NJ Surf Mercer 2013 Boys won the Blue Bracket. 10U Girls In the Red Bracket, PDA 2012G Express 1 won the championship with a win over Match Fit Academy FC 2012 Morris Pre-ECNL Blue in the final. PDA 2012G 2 claimed the championship in the White Bracket, making it a clean sweep of the age group. 10U Boys In the Red Bracket, Empire United 2012 Boys White finished group play 3-0-0 in first place, and entered the final against NEFC RDP Tournament 2012 Boys who had scored 15 goals in group play. In the final, Empire United held NEFC to zero goals, and won the close encounter to be crowned champions. STA MOSC 2012 EDP Boys won the White Bracket, and Manhattan SC Racing 2012 White won the Blue Bracket. 11U Girls In the Red Bracket, Tri-State Soccer Academy Evolution won one game and drew two during the group stage, but it was enough to reach the final to take on NY Red Bulls RDS Showcase G2011/12 who finished first in group play. In the final, Tri-State found its rhythm, and defeated NY Red Bulls by a 5-2 scoreline. PDA 2011G Spirit White won the White Bracket, and Match Fit Academy FC NJ Surf Mercer 2011 Girls won the Blue Bracket. 11U Boys In the Red Bracket, NEFC RDP Tournament 2011 Boys Red and World Class FC 2011 ADL both finished with seven points in Group A, with NEFC advancing on the third tie-breaker. From Group B, STA-MUSC 2011B Pre ECNL was a perfect 3-0-0 to reach the final. In the final, it was a back-and-forth contest all game long, but it was NEFC who would finish as winners. The White Bracket was also won by NEFC with NEFC RDP Tournament 2011 Boys Grey finishing first, while Liverpool FCNJ 2011B South Red won the Blue Bracket and South Brunswick Hi-Tempo Academy Boys 2011 won the Yellow Bracket. 13U Girls In the Red Bracket, PDA Blaze White 2010 made it through group play keeping three clean sheets in their three wins, but came up against a strong NJ Premier G2009 - Blue side in the final who not only found the back of the net, but ended up defeating PDA for the championship in a very close contest. In the White Bracket, PDA Blaze Blue 2010 defeated NJ Premier FC in the final. In the Blue Bracket, Deptford Premier FC '09 Girls won the championship, Mantua Township SA Hericanes 2009 won the Yellow Bracket. 13U Boys In the Red Bracket, Puerto Rico Surf 2009 Red and SYC 09B Academy from Virginia both finished group play 3-0-0 and would meet in the final. SYC conceded their first two goals of the weekend in the final to the strong side from Puerto Rico, but would not be denied and came away as champions after a tough-played final. Cohansey Premier 2009 Royal won the White Bracket, Match Fit Academy FC Pre ECNL 2010 won the Blue Bracket and Princeton FC City won the Yellow Bracket. 14U Girls In the Red Bracket, STA-MUSC 2008G NL EDP defeated DUSC 2008 2-0 in the final after going 2-0-1 in the group stage, where they allowed just one goal against. Deptford Premier FC '08 Girls won the White Bracket and Pittsgrove Milan '09 won the Blue Bracket. 15U Boys In the Red Bracket, PSA Monmouth '07 Boys EDP and Brooklyn Italians EDP BLUE 2007 met in the final after both going 2-0-1 in group play. Both teams came in with almost identical performances, with one big win, one close win and a draw. The final showed just how close the teams were, with neither team able to find an edge and the game remaining close throughout, but it was Brooklyn Italians who would ultimately win the match. 16U Girls In the Red Bracket, Commack Soccer Destroyers G06 won all four of their matches over the weekend, keeping three clean sheets. After a 3-1 win over DUSC, they kept three clean sheets in a row, including a 2-0 win over DUSC in the final.
