High-Energy Summer Soccer Delivered at the EDP Fall Kickoff NJ

This past weekend's EDP Fall Kickoff NJ was the ideal way to launch the fall season, bringing together boys’ and girls’ teams from 8U-15U for a competitive pre-Labor Day event. Taking place at both Friendship Fields in Bordentown, NJ and Mercer County Park in West Windsor Township, NJ, the tournament saw 173 games played with 18 champions crowned, offering regional competition and an overall enjoyable summer soccer atmosphere for all!

The Boys U8/U9 Bracket A at the EDP Fall Kickoff NJ was dominated by Philadelphia Union SWAG Academy 2017, who went undefeated with four wins, scoring 17 goals and conceding just once. They were closely followed by U.S. Futsal Club Ballers Den 2017B and Philadelphia Union SWAG Select 2017, both finishing with three wins apiece, showcasing strong attacks and solid defenses.

The Boys U10 Bracket A delivered a competitive weekend, with Ballers Den 2016B (NJ) and the Town of Poughkeepsie Fire Wolves (NYE) emerging as the top teams. Both sides went unbeaten in group play, The final lived up to expectations, finishing 2–2 before the Fire Wolves prevailed in penalties to claim the title.

The Boys U11 Red Bracket was headlined by a dominant showing from both Philadelphia Union SWAG Academy squads. The 2016 and 2015 teams each went unbeaten in group play, posting big wins and showcasing explosive offenses. The final turned into an all-Union showdown, where the 2015 side pulled away late for a 4–2 victory over the 2016s, claiming the bracket championship and capping a weekend full of goals and high-level competition.Â
The Boys U12 Red Bracket featured thrilling matches and a dramatic championship finish. Athlete Institute (AIFC) Toronto looked strong throughout group play, going unbeaten with three convincing wins. The final saw Beachside South battle AIFC to a 2–2 draw, with the Connecticut side ultimately prevailing 11–10 in a marathon penalty shootout to capture the title.

The Boys U13 Red Bracket was led by Beachside SC U13 (2013) NAL, who went undefeated with a perfect 4–0 record, showing both offensive firepower and defensive discipline. Overall, the bracket showcased Beachside’s consistency at the top, while the rest of the field delivered spirited performances in a competitive group.Â
The Boys U14 Red Bracket was packed with balance and competitive matchups across both groups. In Bracket A, BW Gottschee Academy and Lacey SC Cedar Stars Academy Ocean led the way, each going unbeaten and showcasing disciplined defending, with their head-to-head ending in a hard-fought draw. In Bracket B, RCD Espanyol de Barcelona NJ impressed with a strong defensive record, finishing unbeaten to top the group. The championship match was decided by the slimmest of margins, with BW Gottschee edging RCD Espanyol 1–0 to claim the title.

The Boys U15 Bracket featured a tightly contested race at the top, with Whitpain 2011 Black Freedom (PAE) finishing unbeaten to claim first place. Overall, the bracket delivered quality matchups, strong defensive play, and a close finish among the top three sides.Â
The Girls U11 Bracket saw Freehold SL Elite Mavericks set the pace in group play, finishing unbeaten and not conceding a goal across their three matches. In the final, Voorhees found their moment, edging Freehold 1–0 in a tightly contested match to claim the championship.Â

The Girls U12 Bracket was highly competitive, with Patriot FC 2014 Girls Red leading the way. Patriot went unbeaten in group play and carried that momentum into the final, where they edged Cohansey SC Navy 2–1 to secure the championship.

The Girls U13 Bracket was marked by strong, competitive play, with Highland Youth SC Swarm emerging as the standout team. The Swarm went unbeaten in group play, earning three straight victories before capping their run with a narrow 1–0 win over Medford Strikers in the final to claim the championship.

The Girls U14 Red Bracket featured a strong battle between FC Somers Leeds and Freehold SL Elite Freedom, as both sides finished group play unbeaten and level on points. Somers opened with back-to-back wins, while Freehold impressed with a pair of convincing victories of their own, setting up a decisive final clash. In the championship match, Freehold rose to the occasion, earning a 2–0 win over Somers to claim the title and cap off an excellent all-around performance.Â

The Girls U15 Bracket was tightly contested, with Rockville Centre SC RVC Rascals and Falls SC Lady Lions both emerging as the standout teams in group play. In the championship final, Falls SC found the breakthrough, edging RVC 1–0 to capture the title in a match defined by disciplined defending and a single decisive goal.
