USYS National Regional Showcase New England 2023 Tournament Preview

Over Memorial Day Weekend, EDP Soccer will host the USYS National League Regional Showcase New England at Progin Park in Lancaster, Massachusetts. Managed by EDP Soccer, the event is one of the five National League Regional Showcases during the season, and the last of three in the East Region this Spring. The event comes off the back of the Meet in the Middle Showcase at Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, Indiana, which saw top teams in the nation from the Midwest, Great Lakes and other National League Conferences.

Over 170 teams will participate in the New England Showcase, featuring diverse cross-conference matchups from differing parts of the region. Teams from multiple National League Conferences will be competing, with the field of teams composed of over 50 clubs, seven states, and three Canadian provinces. In addition to college coaches on site, EDP Soccer has partnered with Sports Recruits for the event to enhance the recruiting experience.

A look at some of the event's top brackets:

The 17U Boys Platinum Bracket features recently-crowned Massachusetts State Cup Champions Juventus Academy Boston IFA U17 Boys (MA), one of the top teams in the nation. At their last EDP Showcase, they defeated Baltimore Armour MLS Next, 4-1, and narrowly lost to PDA MLS Next, 3-2. In National League P.R.O., they finished at the top of the table, going 6-0-1 with the second-best goal differential in the age group, and will head to USYS Nationals this Summer. They are joined in the bracket by two other teams from Massachusetts — New England Surf State 06 Navy (MA), who also participated in National League P.R.O., and State Cup semi-finalist Aztec Boys 2006 National (MA). Seacoast Bedford 2006B Elite is one of the top teams from New Hampshire and has clinched first place in the New England Academy North Division, with a record of 6-0-0 with one game remaining. The bracket is rounded out by FC Somers Red Bulls from the North Atlantic Conference, and Rexdale United FC Phantoms 2006B from Ontario, Canada.

The 16U Girls Diamond Bracket is made up of three of the four State Cup semi-finalists from Connecticut. Ginga FC Girls 2007 Elite PRO (CT) will head to the USYS National Championships this Summer, having won their group in P.R.O. while going 6-1-1. The other two State Cup semi-finalists — Sporting CT 2007 Girls (CT) and Southeast SC G07 (CT) — have both had successful seasons, while CFC North 2007 Regional NL (CT) sits in second place in the New England Premier I Division. Out of the North Atlantic Conference is Patchogue-Medford Youth Soccer League Crush, based on Long Island, and the group is rounded out by NY Rush Select 07 Girls from NY West.
