Over the next two weekends, EDP Soccer will host the USYS National League Regional Showcase NJ at Tuckahoe Turf Farms in Hammonton, N.J. Managed by EDP Soccer, the event is one of the five National League Regional Showcases during the season, and the second of three in the East Region this spring. The first weekend, April 22-23, will feature the 15U-19U girls, while the second weekend, April 29-30, will feature the 15U-19U boys.
Over 350 teams will participate across the two weekends, featuring diverse cross-conference matchups from differing parts of the region. Teams from five of the 13 USYS National League Conferences, plus Elite 64, will be in attendance, with teams coming from the New England Conference, North Atlantic Conference, Mid Atlantic Conference, South Atlantic Conference and Sunshine Conference. In addition to college coaches on site, EDP Soccer has partnered with Sports Recruits and Next Level Video for the event to enhance the recruiting experience.
A look at some of the event's brackets:
19U Boys
The 19U Boys Platinum Bracket is highlighted by Cedar Stars Academy North Elite 64 04/05B, the 2022 USYS National Champions. They will take on two teams from the South Atlantic Conference who appeared in last season’s USYS Eastern Regional Championships in CASA 2004/2005M and Eagle FC 05B Black, as well as Florida’s Schulz Academy 2005 BLUE, the club that developed former U.S. Men’s National Team star Jozy Altidore. The bracket is rounded out by MLS NEXT’s newest club, Ironbound SC, and Long Island SC Boys 2005 Academy from the North Atlantic Conference.
17U Boys
The 17U Boys Platinum Bracket includes FC Europa 2006 Boys Elite and WUSC 06, who have both clinched their spot at this year's USYS National Championships through their tremendous performance in National League P.R.O. Dix Hills EST Ultimatum B2006 enters as one of the region's top teams, finishing P.R.O. with a record of 5-1-1. Two of Connecticut's best teams will both be in the bracket with CT Rush Select 2006 Boys and AC Connecticut B06 EDP National, who was the USYS Eastern Regional Finalist in 2021. The final team in the group is Cedar Stars Academy North Elite 64 06B, who is unbeaten in its last six Elite 64 matches.
17U Girls
The 17U Girls Diamond Bracket will see a number of top players in the graduating classes of 2024 and 2025. RUSA FC 2006G Gold and NJ Premier G2006 both will be at the USYS National Championships this summer, where RUSA’s Class of 2025 standout, Mia Abbey, and NJ Premier’s Class of 2024 standout, Ella Cadigan, will both continue to make names for themselves as top recruits. Also from the Class of 2024 is Layla Wilkes from Commack 06G Destroyers, who led the team to a 4-3-0 record in P.R.O. Those three sides will come up against three additional extremely tough opponents, including Super Nova FC '06G, which is 7-1-0 in the South Atlantic Premier I Division. Chelsea Piers Shoreline SC Levante and The Football Academy of NJ 2006 Girls Black have also both had strong starts to their spring National League Conference seasons.
19U Girls
The 19U Girls age group has four teams who qualified for the USYS National Championships this summer and six teams who participated in P.R.O. NJ Nationals 2005 Girls Elite, STA MUSC 04/05G NL, FC Europa 2004 Elite, and Iron Valley United each qualified for Nationals, and several committed players will be in action. Some of the commitments in the Diamond Bracket include University of Rhode Island commit Megan Steinbach of Warrington SC, Trinity Commit Sara Brandt of NJ Nationals FC, Jacksonville University commit Lily Young of Iron Valley United, and Sacred Heart University commit Sydney Gunn of NJ Premier FC.
