EDP Winter Showcase 2023 Preview


A top showcase in the nation, the EDP Winter Showcase will take place this weekend, February 18-19 on five fields at Capelli Sports Complex in Tinton Falls, NJ, The invite-only event will have fifty Boys teams from 16U-19U, and includes the top teams in the country. College coaches from prestigious Division 1, Divisions 2, and Division 3 schools are registered and will be lining the sidelines to take advantage of this unique recruiting opportunity. EDP Soccer has partnered with SportsRecruits and Next Level Video for the event to enhance the recruiting experience for players and college coaches.

Top teams from MLS NEXT, National League P.R.O., Elite 64, ECNL, USL Academy, plus International teams will face off against each other to create a unique best vs best atmosphere. Clubs in attendance will be PDA, Baltimore Armour, Cedar Stars North, Cedar Stars Monmouth, New York SC, Philadelphia Union, Boston Bolts, STA, Penn Fusion, Manhattan SC, FC Bucks Dominion, Lehigh Valley United, BVB IA Pittsburgh, AC Connecticut, FC Europa, BRAUSA, PDA Hibernian, Penn Alliance, Potomac SA, PSA Monmouth, STA-MOSC, SJEB FC, Columbia SC, Dix Hills, Westchester Flames, AIFC, CS St Hubert, FC Durham, Woodbridge Strikers, and FC Florida. A look at some of the events top matchups and players to watch:

PDA MLS NEXT 17U and 19U teams will take on some of the National League P.R.O.’s top teams on Day 1, with the 19Us facing off against BVB IA Pittsburgh 05B Premier and the 17Us against Juventus Academy Boston IFA 17U Boys. BVB IA Pittsburgh 05B Premie is 3-0-0 in National League P.R.O. and have been dominant in each game led by UNC Asheville commit Isaac Wetzel and one of the top uncommitted strikers in the country, All American Donavan Phillip. They will now face one of their toughest tests of the season as they come up against West Virginia commit Ryan Vaubell, Notre Dame commit Nate Zimmermann and a roster littered with future Division 1 players. Juventus Academy Boston IFA clinched their berth to Nationals through National League P.R.O. with a record of 5-0-1, and will look to striker Adam Prince and defender Griffin Collins to once again have stand out performances which placed them on the Best XI at the last P.R.O. event, while PDA is led by key midfielder Dylan Carlson.


Baltimore Armour MLS NEXT 17U and 19U teams Day 1 opponents are Manhattan SC Freedom 2004 ECNL and FC Europa 2006 Boys Elite. Baltimore Armour MLS NEXT 19Us have a plethora of Division 1 commits, with players heading to Maryland, Northwestern, Penn St, UMBC, Navy, Bucknell, Virginia Tech and Loyola. Manhattan SC is led by star player and North Carolina State commit Hakim Karamoko and FC Europa will look to star midfielder Jose Gonzales to pull the strings as both teams compete against one of Maryland’s best clubs.


Penn Fusion SA ECNL 2004 faces off against Cedar Stars Academy North Elite 19U which is led by one of the most sought after recruits in the nation – Ransford Gyan. Ransford, the golden ball winner at the 2022 National Championships and teammate Kwaku Agyabeng are one of the most dynamic duos in the nation. Penn Fusion has a number of players committed in the class of 2023, and several top players still looking for their school including Liam Miller, Brendan Miller and Efe Ulcay.


Potomac Blue 05B, led by Division 1 commit Grant Farrill who is headed to Bellarmine University will be playing STA 2004/2005B ECNL on the Saturday which features William & Mary Division 1 commit Gabriel Ruttenburg. Both teams have had tremendous success during their recent showcases and have several top uncommitted players.


FC Bucks Dominion 2007 Boys takes on MLS Next sides New York Soccer Club 16U and Cedar Stars Academy - Monmouth MLS NEXT 07. FC Bucks Dominion, one of the top 07 teams in the nation, will look to continue their run of strong performances against MLS NEXT teams, which includes recent results against Real Jersey FC, Southern Soccer Academy and Lanier SA.
