EDP Fall Kickoff New Jersey 2023 Tournament Recap



This past weekend, EDP Soccer held the EDP Fall Kickoff New Jersey, EDP Soccer’s first tournament of the 2023-2024 season. Teams from NJ, NY, CT, PA, MD and Ontario were in attendance, giving them a variety of opponents before kicking off their League Season. Close to 60 clubs made up the field of teams, and over 850 goals were scored over the weekend. SFL 2015 Boys Black and Futboltech 2014 Juventus were the two highest-scoring teams in the event, and Futboltech 2014 Juventus, Takoma Thunder 2009B, SJEB FC 11B ECNL RL, Match Fit Academy FC ECNL RL 2001, and Warrington United FC 2010G conceded the fewest goals during the tournament.

The event was held at EDP Soccer’s premier facility—Tuckahoe Turf Farms in Hammonton, NJ.

 

A look at some of the weekend's results:




9U Boys

Futboltech 2015 - Flamengo drew Tournament Time 2016 Boys, one of Canada’s top teams in their second game on Saturday, setting up a big match against unbeaten SFL Club 2015 Boys Black in Sunday’s first match. Futboltech defeated SFL, the event's highest-scoring team, 7-3 and would then go on to defeat TSF in their final game to finish in first place.


10U Girls

Tournament Time 2014 Girls and Torpedoes SC both finished tied at the top of the table, each with two wins and two draws. Tournament Time opened both days with a draw, 1-1 vs Middletown and 2-2 vs Commack SC. The Torpedoes also drew with Middletown 2-2 and then tied Liverpool FCNJ 2-2. Tournament Time finished in first place edging out the Torpedoes on the goal differential tie-breaker.


10U Boys

Futboltech 2014 Juventus and Medford SC Force 2014 both went through the group stages with 3-0-0 records. Futboltech kept three clean sheets, and did not allow a goal until the final against Medford. The two South Jersey sides battled all game long, and Futboltech would come out as the winner in an extremely close game, claiming both 7v7 boys championships for the weekend.


11U Boys

SFL Club 2013 Boys Black finished in first place of the Red Bracket, going 4-0-0 during the tournament. They defeated TSF Academy 2013 Boys NAL Blue 3-1 in the opening match, and then closed out day one with a 4-3 win over Commack SC Coyotes B13. On day two, they opened with a 2-0 win over Match Fit Ocean 2013 Boys, and then secured the championship with a 3-2 win over Liverpool FCNJ 2013 Boys Red Burlington. TSF Academy 2014 Boys Futures Blue won the final of the White Bracket.


12U Boys

Toronto Lions took first place in the Red Bracket back to Canada, defeating TSF Academy 2012 Boys Pre MLS NAL Blue in the final. Toronto Lions also defeated Passaic Youth Soccer Wolves and The Football Academy NJ 2012 Boys Gold in group play. BSA Celta Academy 2012 Gladiadores won the White Bracket with the head-to-head tiebreaker over TSF, defeating them 4-3 in their match up, and Stamford FC Boys 2012 White won the final of the Blue Bracket.


13U Boys

SJEB FC 11B ECNL RL and Cohansey Premier 2011 Navy both reached the final going 3-0-0 in the group stage. SJEB FC 11B recorded back-to-back 3-0 wins on day one, defeating YMS 2011 Boys Union and Philadelphia SC Coppa 11 Black. On day two, they opened with a big win over Commack SC Vipers, and carried that momentum into the final, where they narrowly edged out Cohansey to win the championship of the Red Bracket. Match Fit Academy FC ECNL Regional 2011 won the White Bracket, and Jackson SC Lions Red won the Blue Bracket.



14U Boys

TSF Academy 2010 Boys NAL and Future_SA U13B Elite 64 met in the final after meeting in the group stages, where Future_SA won the match up 4-2. In the final, it was a different story, as TSF dominated from start to finish, and made sure the game was never in doubt as they claimed the championship of the Red Bracket. Cohansey Premier 2010 Navy defeated Perth Amboy in the final of the White Bracket, and Patriot FC 2010 Boys Red won the Blue Bbracket going 4-0-0.


15U Girls

CJFA Thorn recovered from a 3-0 loss against PTS/Cheetah Mulisha FC, and defeated that same side in the final to win first place of the Red Bracket. Earlier in the event, CJFA defeated Jersey Shore Boca 3-1 and Back Mountain Lightning 4-0. Warrington FC United 2010G won the White Bracket defeating HVAA in the final.


15U Boys

Takoma Park SC Thunder 2009B opened the weekend with a big win over Medford Strikers 2009 Boys, followed by a 4-1 win over FC SC 09 Vikings. They closed out the weekend with a 3-0 win over United Elite Soccer Inc White 2009 to take the championship back to Maryland.
