EDP Soccer has announced the Best XI from last weekends EDP Cup Spring Showcase 2024. The selections were made based on the performance of the players during the tournament. Congratulations to the following players who were selected.
The Girls Best XI from the EDP Cup Spring Showcase 2024 are:
# 10 Natalie McGovern - Wall Elite Atletico
Natalie caused chaos all over the field. Her work rate on both sides of the ball was amazing. She was involved in a few goals, but more importantly her link-up plays and controlling the game allowed Atletico to go 3-0 on the weekend!
# 14 Ellie Leffler - Reading Rage Surf '07 Press
Ellie had four goals and one assist across three matches. She had two huge second-half goals vs STA in the final game to lock up the tournament win. One goal was a rocket at the edge of the box off the post and in. The other was a tremendous header off a late corner. As usual, when it counted most, she rose to the occasion. She is committed to play soccer this Fall at Division 1 William & Mary.
# 25 Jordan Levinson - Sporting Athletic Club 07G GA
Jordan was a key attacking piece in Sporting AC’s performances over the weekend. She scored one goal in each of the three wins and was vital in her team’s attack, which scored nine goals across three games. Her positioning, combination play, and ability to score in multiple ways were keys to her success over the weekend. Her ability to counter press and consistently regain the ball in her team’s attacking third were one of the keys that helped Sporting to a 3-0 record while not allowing a single goal during the weekend.
# 12 Kati Maxwell - NJ Surf South Shore 07G
Kati was a key factor in Surf’s success this weekend. She won 90% of her individual tackles, was a key contributor to starting the attack for the team from the right back position, and our set-piece specialist (throw-ins and corners). Kati not only played right back superbly, but she was excellent in center defensive midfields and left back as well. Kati’s versatility was crucial to the team, and she played almost every minute of every game. Kati helped the team to a 1-0 clean sheet win vs Toronto SC and provided the assist for the only goal of the game.
# 15 Erin Farrell - Wall Elite Napoli
Erin was on the score sheet and assisted on nearly every single goal that Napoli scored over the weekend. She was dynamic with her hold-up play and her movement in behind. She was a threat every time her team was in the final third.
# 9 Bella Norgan - LVU RUSH ECNL-RL G07
Bella Norgan led the LVU Rush 07G ECNL-RL team to the tournament Cup through creating multiple scoring opportunities. Bella also assisted and scored four goals throughout the weekend to lead the team to the top of the Group.
# 9 Lilah Gilmore - Reading Rage SC '09 Pugh
Lilah anchored the team's backline at center back, leading the team to a first-place finish in the top 16U Bracket, while only allowing one goal in three games. Her ability to read the game is second to none, and her excellent technical ability to go along with her athleticism was on display all weekend long.
# 1 Samantha Vazquez - STA 2008G GA NAL
Sam was outstanding this weekend, coming up big with three clean sheets in three games and pulling off some very good 1v1 saves to keep her team in the game at crucial times. The team benefited from her play by going undefeated and winning all three games at the showcase.
# 9 Olivia McCullough - SJEB FC 08G NL
Olivia played a key role in the success of the SJEB offensive attack with two assists on the weekend. Her ability to play multiple positions as a midfielder and forward helped create dynamic attacking situations and scoring opportunities.
# 2 Anna Cofone - STA-MOSC 2008G GA NAL
Anna had a fantastic weekend playing center midfield for STA Mt Olive 2008G. Anna helped the team on both sides of the ball, anchoring the team and helping them to not concede a goal over the weekend, while also providing a threat in the attack with shots from distance and defense-splitting passes.
# 54 Jordyn Patrick - YMS 2009 Girls Premier Celtic Ghirls
Jordyn played every minute of all three games at center back. She was responsible for marking the other team’s goal scorers at a high-level tournament and played strong defense all weekend.
