EDP Soccer has announced the Best XI from last weekend’s EDP Cup Fall 2023. The selections were made based on the performance of the players during the tournament. Congratulations to the following players who were selected.
The Boys Best XI from the EDP Cup Fall 2023 are:
#4 Ian Cespedes - SYC 2016B Red
Ian was very dominant this weekend on both sides of the ball and was able to take over games with his technical ability and scoring (many goals) in key moments of the game. His qualities and natural ability were on full display all weekend in defense and attack (while playing defense) from the very first game until the championship.
#30 Jonah Pecou - Futboltech 2015 Liverpool
The "swiss army knife" of players, Jonah was one of the most versatile players to watch over the weekend. His technical ability, athleticism combined with his knowledge of the game made him a threat in any position. Jonah was dominant on defense and throughout the midfield helping the Futboltech squad have a successful weekend against high-level competition.
#1 Niko Radman - Tournament Time 2014 Boys
Niko was a wall in the back for Tournament Time playing keeper for them. Niko had great reaction saves and made saves that everyone thought would go in but somehow he did not let it happen. Niko helped the team win the Finals of the 2014 Gold Division against Philadelphia Union and the team was undefeated throughout the tournament.
#9 Sebastian Lopez - SYC 2013B Pre-MLS Next
Sebastian played center back and helped SYC 2013B Pre-MLS Next to have solid defensive and attacking decisions on and off the ball. As a silent leader, his teammates embraced him and supported him to continue improving throughout the tournament.
#24 Yazan Mohieldin - New York Red Bulls Pre-Academy 2013 NY
Yazan performed as a versatile central midfield and anchored the Red Bulls on offense and defense. His tenacious ball-winning was complemented by impressive technical ability to help the team maintain possession and create chances for his teammates.
#11 Alex Sturm - Philadelphia Union Junior Academy 2012
Alex led the Philadelphia Union 2012 team to the tournament cup through his tackles and physicality in midfield. He also assisted and scored a goal. Alex’s intensity and mentality against the ball fueled the team to victory.
#7 Elisha Kouadio - Glen Shields Juventus FC 2012 Boys
Elisha was a top scorer for the team and his speed and game awareness was unmatched. Pure athleticism and talent matched with the team’s style of play helped Elisha shine throughout the tournament.
#1 Bojan Cabellero - SYC U13B MLS Next
Goalkeeper Bojan Caballero kept a clean sheet while he played and made two key saves in a penalty shootout to win the 2011 top bracket of the tournament this past weekend.
#9 Hector Santiago - East Coast FC B2010 ECNL/RL
Hector was listed as "Players to Watch" for the 14U age group and he didn’t disappoint. Hector was instrumental in many of East Coast FC's goals scored with the team having the best attack in the 14U Platinum Bracket. He scored the deciding goal in the final match with under two minutes left, to secure a 1-0 win for East Coast to lift the EDP Cup.
#13 Nathan-Noel Hernandez - CAT 2010 ELITE BOYS
Nathan had a fantastic weekend scoring two goals and two assists. He was instrumental in the team's attack and created many opportunities for others and himself. He scored the lone goal in the final (1-0) to help his team win the tournament.
#37 Max Graham - AC Connecticut B11 USYS National League
Max was a dominant and dangerous force all weekend from the left side delivering several goals and assists and leading AC CT to another championship in the EDP Cup.
