USYS National League Regional Showcase Virginia Girls Recap

The first half of the USYS National League Regional Showcase Virginia 2024 was held at River City Sportsplex in Midlothian, VA this past weekend. Managed by EDP Soccer, in collaboration with Club Champions and VYSA, the weekend featured 15U-19U Girls. The second weekend will be 15U-19U Boys, and will conclude the first of four National League Regional Showcases being held this Spring season.

19U Girls

The 19U Girls Diamond bracket featured teams from Maryland, South Carolina, New York, and Pennsylvania. PA Classics Elite Blue 05 F finished as the top team going 2-0-1. They opened the event with a 1-1 draw against Stony Brook LGN SC United G2006, and then defeated BUSA '05G from Maryland, and Beach United FC BUFC Crush from South Carolina. Virginia Reign 05/06 Elite Girls won the Ruby bracket going 3-0-0, and SCAA 06G Elite won the Sapphire bracket, winning a tie-breaker over FC Fredericksburg FC U19 Girls Black with both teams going 2-0-1.

17U Girls

The 17U Girls Diamond bracket was extremely well-balanced, with all six teams finishing with a goal differential between +2 and -1. All nine games in the bracket were decided by one goal or less. A3 Soccer Rangers 07G topped the group with seven points, followed by three teams tied with four points, and two teams with one point. In the Ruby bracket, Unity Rush 2007 Girls finished 3-0-0, with wins of 3-0, 4-0, and 2-1.

16U Girls

In the 16U Girls Diamond bracket, SYC 2008G National League and NCFC Gold North G08 both finished 3-0-0. Both sides recorded wins over Cheshire Soccer Academy 2008 Girls NL from NJ, Team Challenger FC South 08G Gold from Ohio, and West Virginia Soccer 2008 Girls Academy I.

15U Girls

The 15U Girls Diamond bracket saw Salisbury United SC 2009 Elite Girls finish in first place going 3-0-0. They finished three points ahead of Virginia Rush 2009G, with Salisbury’s 5-1 win over VA Rush the difference between the two sides. In the Ruby bracket, TSJ FC Virginia 2009 Girls Academy 2 finished in first place going 3-0-0 and keeping two clean sheets. They opened the event with a 3-1 win over Carolina FC 2009 Elite, and then had back-to-back clean sheets, with a 2-0 win over Bayshore Soccer Club Reign, and a 2-0 win over Virginia Revolution SC 09G Black.

The remaining National League Regional Showcases in the East Region this Spring will be USYS National League Regional Showcase New Jersey in April, and USYS National League Regional Showcase New England in May.
