USYS National League Regional Showcase Virginia Girls Best XI

EDP Soccer has announced the Best XI from last weekend’s USYS National League Regional Showcase Virginia 2024 Girls. The selections were made based on the performance of the players during the tournament. Congratulations to the following players who were selected.

# 11 Olivia Fleurant - PA Classics Elite Blue 05 F (PAE)

Olivia was very stout this weekend at center back, not only preventing opposing attacks, but also kick-starting the offense with poise and accurate line-breaking passes. Olivia ended the weekend with multiple key passes, led the defense with only two goals against, as well as contributing an assist. Her ability to communicate and organize on the field was outstanding all weekend and allowed our team to finish top of our bracket.

# 21 Jada Savage - BYSA 05/06 National Girls (MD)

Jada had a fantastic event playing left wing. Not only was Jada an exceptional player and great teammate, but most importantly is one the most coachable players. Jada sat out the first half of the final game against Keystone FC where the team went down by two goals. The team energy completely changed in the second half when she came in and forced a 2-2 tie.

# 11 Mandi Lynch - VA Reign 05/06 Elite Girls (VA)

Mandi is a solid, consistent and versatile player who started and played most of the weekend as an outside defender, leading our defense to three shutouts and zero goals conceded. Mandi also played some central midfield, controlled play in the midfield, created a bunch of scoring chances for her teammates, and also scored our best goal of the weekend on a one-touch shot from the top of the 18 into the top corner.

# 15 Isabelle Springer - SCAA 06G Elite (VA)

Isabelle was key to SCAA’s success this weekend as she played several roles in midfield and defense. In midfield, she was the igniter of our attack with accurate and timely line-breaking passes and scored multiple goals. At defense, she locked down the opposing attackers and provided quick outlets for her teammates to progress into the attacking third of the field. Her ability to communicate with everyone, and organize the shape and defense was impressive. Isabelle demonstrated true leadership and this allowed our team to succeed over the weekend.

# 16 Macy Shropshire - Fredericksburg FC U19 Girls Black (VA)

Macy was a standout as a central midfielder, demonstrating exceptional skill and determination. Strong in possession and dominant in 50/50 challenges, her ball distribution and involvement in attacking transitions were pivotal. Macy's goal this weekend was a highlight, contributing significantly to our team's bracket win. Her performance exemplified true sportsmanship and teamwork.

# 1 Sophie Fedorchak - A3 Soccer Rangers 07G (MD)

Sophie had a fantastic showcase in goal and showed her dominance by recording three clean sheets for the A3 Rangers. Sophie repeatedly frustrated the opposing team’s attack coming up with key saves in multiple 1v1 situations during all three matches. Her presence on the backline was astounding.

# 20 Avery Hutchinson - Team Challenger FC South 08G Gold (OH)

Avery played center mid/striker and was a key piece in getting the attack going during a weekend full of great competition. She scored four goals and had three assists on the weekend including a hat trick in the last game. Avery’s competitiveness and knowledge of the game helped her create opportunities for herself and those around her.

# 5 Kennedy Bourne - Salisbury United SC 2009 Elite Girls (MD)

Kennedy had an outstanding weekend as the top scorer. Not only was she the top scorer, her unselfish play provided opportunities for her teammates to score as well. Due to her impeccable foot work, positional awareness, and speed while both defending and attacking, she was able to make this happen. She played an intricate part with helping the team build out of the back, maintaining possession with continued progression through the thirds to the back of the net. Her continued leadership does not go unnoticed.

# 5 Miley Barrett - SAC/BA Girls 2007 - Pre-Academy (MD)

As her team’s 10 attacking mid, Miley scored two goals and provided one assist over the weekend. Miley’s tenacious high press resulted in a number of turnovers and opportunities on goal for her teammates.  She was most often a threat to the opposing defensive backs but would pop up over and over again to provide defensive support and force turnovers in all areas of the field.

# 48 Emilia Nash - NCFC Gold North G 08 (NC)

Emma was solid in the center back position all weekend. She was part of a defense that only gave up one goal for all three games. She communicated instructions and encouraged the ladies all weekend. She led by example and came through defensively at key moments of the game.

# 73 Alyssa Kurre - TSJ FC Virginia 2009 Girls Academy 2 (VA)

Alyssa had a fantastic showcase experience with two goals scored in three games. As a forward, the timing of her runs were excellent to exploit spaces in behind high back lines. Not only a goal-scoring threat, she looked to provide service multiple times in the final third leading to goal-scoring opportunities for her teammates. Her pressure was relentless in high blocks and mid blocks to disrupt the opposition's ability to maintain possession.
