USYS National League Regional Showcase NJ 2024 Girls Best XI


EDP Soccer has announced the Best XI from last weekend’s USYS National League Regional Showcase NJ 2024 Girls. The selections were made based on the performance of the players during the tournament. Congratulations to the following players who were selected.

 

The Girls Best XI from the USYS National League Regional Showcase NJ 2024 are:

# 10 Mia Abbey - RUSA G2006 Gold

The Willam & Mary Commit led the attack with four goals and four assists over three games. Mia’s work rate defensively covering box-to-box was just as important as her offensive production. She was quick and skillful on the dribble creating numerous chances for the team this weekend. 


# 11 Maggie Holloway - FC Revolution Reds 

The University of Delaware Commit had a tremendous offensive contribution over the weekend. Maggie scored four goals and had two assists in the team's three wins.


# 17 Rebecca Petrellese - Stony Brook LGN SC United G2006  

Rebecca’s ability to be a dominant two-way midfielder helped fuel her team to a highly successful weekend. Rebecca has great awareness and wins tackles, gaining her team extra possessions. On the offensive side of the ball, she sees the field with her unique vision and her ability to create landed her team with multiple scoring opportunities and goals this past weekend. Rebecca’s selflessness was on full display all weekend, and this makes her a standout to both her teammates and coaches. 


# 9 Leila Anazagasty-Pursoo - NYCFC Girls 2007/2008 South 

Leila's performance this weekend was nothing short of phenomenal, scoring an impressive total of nine goals across three games. Her attacking prowess was on display, showcasing not just her knack for finding the back of the net, but also her exceptional athleticism and speed. Her ability to influence the game on both ends of the pitch makes her a key player whose talents and dedication were critical to the team's success. 


# 10 Sophia Saladino - SJEB FC 07G NL

Sophia was very dominant on both sides of the ball and was able to take over games with her technical ability and work rate all weekend.


# 9 Mia Treney - Brick Township SA Superstorm

Mia was the anchor on the defensive side this weekend. She did a tremendous job shutting down the opposing team’s best attackers. Her discipline in keeping with her mark, knowledge of the game, and her physical and mental toughness made her one of the most valuable players on the pitch.

# 66 Kaelyn Folchetti - AC Connecticut G2008 USYS National 

Kaelyn put in a dominant defensive performance playing all three games at center-back. She helped the team to two clean sheets in three games, and the team only allowed one goal all weekend.


# 18 Amanda Mazzuca - FC Westchester G2008 Blue

Amanda had an outstanding tournament and played a key role in the team's attack. Every time she got the ball you could sense the excitement that she could make something happen with her speed, ability to beat players 1v1, and composure in front of goal to finish or create. Amanda had three excellent goals at crucial times in the games for her team. 


# 22 Isabella Hewitt - Stateline SC 2008G Bears

Isabella was a key part of the team’s offense at this showcase, scoring seven goals and having two assists in three games. Isabella’s movement off the ball created many scoring opportunities for herself and teammates, and she consistently beat opposing defenders on the dribble before passing it off or finding the back of the net. Isabella not only led the offense, but also demonstrated an impressive work rate pressuring the back line and forcing turnovers while also coming back to support her center midfielders.


# 2 Julia Purvy - HEX FC Dominion USYS 09G

Julia scored three goals and had one assist in her three games. She was extremely dangerous all weekend long in the final third off the dribble, helping lead the team to a successful weekend. 


# 72 Josephine Devlin - Penn FC Youth 2009 F Black

Josephine played a crucial role in the team's two wins. Winning two of the most exciting games by scorelines of 6-4 and 4-3, her technical ability, athleticism and work rate were on display during the entire event.
