This past weekend, EDP Soccer held the EDP Fall Kickoff Maryland, with players taking the field for the first time in the 2022-2023 season. Teams from over 20 different clubs from MD, NJ, PA, VA and Canada were in attendance to participate in a weekend of top-quality soccer.
The event was held at one of the premier tournament venues in the Northeast — Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, MD.
A Look At Some of The Weekend’s Results:
In the 12U Boys age group, Laurel Soccer Club Lions White 2011 had a strong start to the event on Saturday, finishing with 2 wins and keeping 2 clean sheets in the process. On Sunday, they faced their toughest test, drawing 1-1 with runners up St. Mary's Soccer SMS 2011 Arsenal Premier, and then defeating SAC in their final game to claim first place.
In the 14U Boys age group, Manassas Soccer Club 09 Gold kept 3 clean sheets throughout the weekend, including in the final where they defeated St. Mary's Soccer SMS 2009 Gunners Premier 2-0. In the other bracket, Atletico 2010 from Canada went undefeated, defeating Maryland Rush SOMD Rush 09B 3-0 in their final match of the weekend to finish in first place.
In the 16U Boys age group, United Elite Soccer Inc White opened the weekend with a 1-1 draw, but followed that up with 2-0 victories in the final 2 group stage games, before finishing with another 2-0 victory over Sterling 07B Orange in the final.
In the Boys HS group, Elite Soccer Club Plainfield Revolution Brazilian United Soccer Academy BUSA '05 2-0 in the final, capping off an unbeaten weekend where they went 2-0-1 in group play, and allowed just one goal against.
In the 14U Girls group, Maryland Rush SOMD Rush 09G Blue started the weekend with a close 1-0 win over St. Mary's Soccer SMS 2009 Seahawks, and then closed out group play with another 1-0 win, this time over Fallston Fusion 2009. In the final, their stellar defensive unit once again kept a clean sheet, helping the team to a 2-0 win over Central Jersey Futbol Alliance CJFA Thorns.
