EDP Soccer has announced the Best XI from last weekends EDP Cup Spring Showcase 2024. The selections were made based on the performance of the players during the tournament. Congratulations to the following players who were selected.
The Boys Best XI from the EDP Cup Spring Showcase 2024 are:
# 10 Preston Galanis - Medford Strikers Academy Boys 2006
Preston displayed consistency throughout the tournament. He was involved both defensively and offensively and influenced play with his high energy throughout the three games. Preston scored three goals and showcased his versatility by effectively moving between center defensive midfielder, center attacking midfielder, and forward.
# 13 Andrew Halko - PDA Hibernian Scholes 2007
Andrew dominated in the attacking phase of the games this weekend. He was able to make an impact in the games in multiple areas. Andrew’s hold-up play was excellent, and he was willing to get in behind the opposition – with and without the ball – along with final third execution.
# 10 Karthik Menon - STA MOSC U17B Elite 64
Karthik played an important role in the STA midfield as he scored three goals and two assists in three games. His ability to control the middle of the field and get into dangerous areas in front of the goal was a key factor to his great showcase.
# 17 Devaughn Smith - SJEB FC 07B ECNL RL
Devaughn was instrumental in SJEB FC’s success over the weekend. He was excellent in the team's midfield all weekend long, helping the team in all facets of the game.
# 22 Rexx Huntsinger - Deptford Premier FC '07 Boys
Rexx led by example this weekend, scoring in all of the games. Rexx was a dominant presence in his team winning the EDP Spring Showcase.
# 31 Fernando Uyaguari - FC Westchester 2007 White
Fernando was instrumental in the team's success at the event this weekend. His tenacious play led the team to a strong finish, where they shut out their last two opponents.
# 21 Dakarai Drakes - Met Oval Academy 2008
Dakarai performed really well in both winger and wing back positions. He helped the team a lot defensively and offensively and was also able to be dangerous in the last yards. He had great combinations with central players and and did well running behind opponents.
# 33 Dagan Waring - Brooklyn United Academy B2008 National
Dagan dominated the midfield with his athletic and graceful approach, winning many important tackles, as well as driving the ball up the field on the dribble to create attacking situations. He also contributed assists to help his team excel at the tournament.
# 9 Noli Murtaj - NJ Surf South Marlton 08B
A combination of smooth and bruising, Noli was a versatile central midfielder who punished his opponents. From goal-scoring class, to crunching tackles, Noli was a committed, tough-to-beat, workhorse. He possessed the vision to thread through balls and showcased the ability to produce magic, game-winning moments.
# 44 Eric Petrush - Cedar Stars Academy North 09B Elite 64
High energy, relentlessness, and willingness to do the dirty work epitomizes Eric's game. Was a threat on the dribble on counterattacks and produced tireless moments running at opposition backlines, he was able to pick two important goals and worked well with his teammates behind the ball.
# 20 Soumil Nisme - Steel United NJ 2008B Elite
Soumil played a crucial part in the team's success over the weekend. His tremendous play led the team to a perfect 3-0-0 finish, where they scored 11 goals and kept two clean sheets, allowing just two goals in the event.
