USYS Regional Showcase NJ 2021 Boys Best XI



EDP Soccer has announced the Best XI from last weekend’s USYS Regional Showcase NJ Boys event. The selections were made based on the performance of the players during the tournament. Congratulations to all players who were selected. The Best XI from the USYS Regional Showcase NJ Boys are:
 
CEDAR STARS ACADEMY NEWARK 2002 EDP NL - TONY YEBOAH #9

Yeboah led the line from the central striker position with 6 goals and 3 assists over the course of the weekend. Yeboah’s direct running, efficient finishing and hold up play were integral to the team's success and impressive goal return over the weekend.


FC COPA ACADEMY B02/03 BLACK - JAKE GERSHON #23

Gershon was critical in leading the FC Copa Academy team to an undefeated weekend to finish top of the table. Scoring two game winning goals, his impact was seen through his constant work rate on and off the ball while exuding selfless leadership. "Gersh" as he is known, played out of his 10 position, but equally impacted the game as he was moved to several positions. He is never hesitant to embrace opportunities to benefit the team resulting in constant success on the field.

CAPITAL AREA SA 03M UNITED - BEN ZIMMER #16

Zimmer is a central midfielder who played tremendously on both sides of the ball during the tournament. His energy level was second to none and his quick adjustments to opposing play were responded to expertly. He is a great team-mate and his unselfish play led to the team's success at this past weekend event.

SJEB RUSH 03B ACADEMY NL EDP - TYLER GUADAGNO #6

Guadagno was a constant threat all weekend on the attack and scored some quality goals to help the team win their bracket with wins over New York Rush Select, SAC/BA Pre-Academy and a draw vs Massapequa SC Warriors.

LOWER MERION SC INVICTUS - LIAM HARTMAN #18

Hartman had a massive weekend for the LMSC Invictus team, scoring 3 out the team's 7 goals on the weekend and adding an assist in the final game. Hartman created a ton of chances in the attacking third and took advantage of the opportunities that were given to him in each game.

PENN ALLIANCE SELECT ELITE ‘04 - KIERAN WEBB #25

Against top teams in the region, Webb posted 2 shutouts and conceded only 1 goal during the event. In addition to his phenomenal shot stopping ability, Webb took charge of the box, and was very quick off of his line. In a key match that would determine the flight champion, Webb led his team to victory with nonstop communication and a sheer will to win.

PDA SHORE 2004 THIAGO - KODY BESSER #5

Besser put in several strong performances from his center back position, including scoring a great header in the first game vs. Burke Athletic.

FC SESA STRIKERS USYS NL 04 - TYLER BEHR #12

Behr was dominant in goal right from the start keeping a clean sheet in the first match and continued with clean sheets in the next two matches allowing zero goals in the event and leading the team to a 3-0-0 record. In addition to his shot stopping ability, Behr helped lead the team to victory with his game management through his constant communication and direction to the team.

PA DOMINION FC 05 BOYS - DREW PAXON #8

Paxon was absolutely dominant at Center Back for PA Dominion in their 3 wins over the weekend. Winning every 50/50 in the air and also got involved on the offensive side as well on restarts tabbing 2 assists. He played every minute and was a huge reason for the team's 3-0-0 record against some of the region's top teams.

TORPEDOES SC 2005B RED - COLE DUSCHANG #6

Duschang dominated as a center back all weekend with 0 goals allowed His strong and physical presence helped contain opponents in each game. His ability to start the build up was also crucial to the team's success when they attacked.

FC REVOLUTION GUNNERS - JORGE AGUIRRE #4

Aguirre played almost every minute over the 3 games and alongside his central defending partner Owen Harris, helped the Gunners win all 3 games and keep 2 clean sheets. The Tulpehocken High School sophomore was the backbone of the team throughout the event displaying relentless defensive skills and leadership.
