USYS Regional Showcase New England 2022 Girls Best XI

EDP Soccer has announced the Best XI Girls from last weekend’s USYS Regional Showcase New England event. The selections were made based on the performance of the players during the tournament. Congratulations to all players who were selected. The Best XI Girls from the USYS Regional Showcase New England are:

CFC NORTH G2004 REGIONAL NL - NADJA MEITE #18

Nadja was the main goal-scoring threat with 4 of the team's 12 goals scored in the two games played this weekend. Her dribbling ability 1-on-1 caused havoc for the opponents, drawing double teams and opening up opportunities for her teammates to get in on the scoring also.

SOUTHEAST SC G04/03 - LINDSEY PRICE #15

Price, a two-way player in midfield, was at the center of everything Southeast did. Contributing equally in and out of possession, she finished the weekend with a pair of goals and assists while also consistently breaking up opposing attacks to trigger Southeast's counter.

SEACOAST UNITED ME 2004/03G - UNA DJURANOVIC #7

Djuranovic was a nonstop workhorse all weekend and was essential to the success of her team. She was crucial for her team’s build-up, in finding large pockets of space to play through, and was a relentless defender in all areas of the field.

NIRVANA MYSTIQUE '05G - SHANNON SGOMBICK #12

Shannon is a versatile, crafty game-changer. She can impact play from many positions on the field. Her style of play is steady, calm, confident and impactful.

AC CONNECTICUT G05 EDP NATIONAL - RUBY CASEY #5

Ruby marshaled the backline in both a back three and back four format. She is an inspirational leader and captain. Her positional sense and passing are well beyond her years.

GREATER BINGHAMTON FC 06G - MADDIE DAVIES #6

Maddie was a fundamental player this past weekend for her team, since GBFC likes to build the play from the defensive third. Her vision and ability to build out of pressure and find deeper passes to teammates in the attack allowed GBFC to create many attacking opportunities. Defensively she was a wall, solid and hard to go by, she was one of the reasons why the team had a couple clean sheets in the tourney. She has a brilliant future in the sport; there are not many outside backs out there that can do so well both defensively, offensively, and impact the game so much on the build up.

SEACOAST UNITED MASS SOUTH 2006 ELITE GIRLS - HANNA CALAWA #4

Driving midfield performances were on display this weekend from Hannah. She played every minute in center-midfield, and was the driving force behind the team’s performance.

CSA HUDSON VALLEY GIRLS 2006/2007 - GIULIANA OBLIGADO #13
CFC VALLEY G2006 EDP NATIONAL - SARA BABIGIAN #9
GINGA FC GIRLS 2007 ELITE PRO NATIONAL LEAGUE- MACIE SALADO #14

Macie played amazingly over the weekend, providing great quality passes in the center of the field. She also gave Ginga FC security on the back line. Macie is a player that wins balls cleanly without committing fouls. Her timing on the ball is superb. She was outstanding, not only as a center-defender, but also as a center-midfielder. Her contribution to the team allowed them to place first in their bracket.

HASC DARE DEVILS - DANA SCRUGGS #9

Dana played every minute as center-back or midfielder. She was a handful for most of the opposing teams’ forwards and pressured their defenders when she was on the attack. She was the team's leading scorer and created opportunities all weekend. She is the workhorse and emotional leader of the team and her work ethic is unmatched.
