Teams from the EDP Florida Competitive League are finding success on both the Regional and National levels this season. In addition to playing in the Sub Regional divisions of the EDP Florida Competitive League, 21 teams are also participating in the Sunshine Conference of the USYS National League. Seven of these sides also earned their place in National League P.R.O., and are looking to punch their tickets to compete at the USYS National Championships.
In the 14U Sunshine Conference, Florida Competitive League teams occupy the 1st through 5th slots. Nona SA 2008 Black, the reigning USYS Regional Champion sits in first place with 19 points and one game to play, and Doral Elite 2008 three points behind with two games to play. Golden Goal Sports SA 2008 Gold, Juventus Academy Miami Pogba and PSG Academy FL Cavani occupy the third through fifth spots, all with two games remaining.
The top two teams in the Sunshine Conference will earn automatic slots into next season's National League P.R.O., where teams are able to earn a berth directly to the USYS National Championships. In this season of National League P.R.O. in the 14U age group, Nona SA 2008 Black, Doral Elite 2008, Juventus Academy Miami Pogba and PSG Academy FL Cavani are all participating. Juventus Academy is currently in third place in Group A and has a chance to clinch a berth to Nationals with one game left. Nona SA finished the season in third place in Group C. In Group D, Doral Elite 2008 is in first place with one game left, and PSG Academy FL is tied for third place with one game left, with both teams having a chance to reach Nationals.
Winter Park FC 2007 Select Girls is two-thirds through their Sunshine Conference season in the 15U Premier I Division, and have been extremely competitive with a 1-1-2 record. They started the season with a strong 3-0 win over Azzurri Storm 2007, and then drew 1-1 with Gulf Coast Texans SC and 2-2 vs Wellington SC. As one of just three teams in the division with a positive goal differential, the team is proving they can compete with the best.
In the 13U Sunshine Conference, Florida Competitive League teams are currently in first, second and third place. Miami Breakers FC 2009 are a perfect 5-0-0, with Barca Academy Pro Miami 2009 in second place with a 4-1-1 record and Nona SA 2009 Black in third with a 3-1-1 record.
At the 15U age group, Juventus Academy Miami Doral Dybala and Doral Elite 2007 are both in National League P.R.O. and are headed to Legacy Sports USA this March for their second event. In the Sunshine Conference, they are currently in first and second place, with Juventus Academy 4-1-1 and Doral Elite 4-0-0.
At the 19U age group, Strikers Miami FC Elite left the first National League P.R.O. event a perfect 3-0-0, and headed to the second event looking to pick up three more wins. In the Sunshine Conference, they are in second place with a 4-1-0 record. The squad looks to close out a stellar resume with a National Championship in its final season.
