EDP Cup Fall 2021 Girls Recap



This past weekend, EDP Soccer hosted the second half of the EDP Cup Fall, featuring 9U-15U girls teams playing at Tuckahoe Turf Farms in Hammonton, NJ. Eight different state associations were represented with numerous top ranked teams in attendance. Featuring teams from Girls Academy League, USYS National League Conferences, EDP League and more, the weekend saw top teams from across different platforms compete against each other, creating a best vs. best experience. In total, the event saw over 200 games played with close to 800 goals scored and two-thirds of the games decided by two goals or less.

 
A look at some of the events brackets:

DIAMOND

NEXT LEVEL NLSA 08G and NJ PREMIER FC 2008G both reached the final going 3-0-0 in group play. In Group A, NLSA faced off with TORPEDOES SC RED on Sunday morning, and in a battle of the current and former NJ State Champions, NLSA won 2-1 to book their spot in the final. In Group B, NJ Premier FC needed a win or a draw vs WALL ELITE CHELSEA to book their spot in the final, and won 1-0 on a late second half goal. In the final, a rematch of the 2021 NJ State Cup Final, NLSA came out with the 2-0 win and once again claimed the championship over NJ Premier.

RUBY The bracket came down to the final game between CINNAMINSON SC UNION and FC REVOLUTION ECLIPSE. With Cinnaminson needing a win, they were led by their star striker Shiloh Moore who scored two goals in the team’s 3-0 win, putting them at 10 points to FC Revolution’s nine points and a 1st place finish.


DIAMOND JERSEY SHORE BOCA JR FC O'HARA '09 opened up their weekend with a big 2-0 win over NEFC 2009G GA followed by a 2-2 draw with SJEB FC 09 GA. On Sunday morning, they defeated JACKSON SC WOLFPACK to book their spot in the championship match. They would face off with REAL JERSEY FC 2009G, who went into Sunday level on points with PSA NORTH ELITE ‘09, and faced off with NJ BLAZE SA 09. After going up 2-0, NJ Blaze got a goal back, but Real Jersey FC held on late for the 2-1 win. In a thrilling final match, Jersey Shore Boca Jr was victorious by the scoreline of 1-0.

RUBY WALL ELITE SPIRIT and YARDLEY MAKEFIELD SOCCER 2009 GIRLS CELTIC GHIRLS went into Sunday tied on points, but Wall’s big win over SJEB FC 09G NL secured their spot in the final. B'ELITE PLAYER DEVELOPMENT SC TSUNAMI drew their final group game with TORPEDOES SC ’09 STRIKERS, which was the point they needed to get them to the final. In the final, with the game tied at 2-2, B'Elite would score a late winner and claim the victory by the final score of 3-2.


DIAMOND

SJEB FC 10G RED opened with a 3-2 loss to CNY PREMIER SC 2010, but bounced back with two wins to close out the group stage. Group A ended with a three-way tie for first place, with SJEB FC advancing on goal differential to take on WORLD CLASS FC 2010 PRE-ECNL in the final, where SJEB FC would claim the championship.


RUBY

MEDFORD SC MAGIC 2010 was the lone team to go 3-0-0 in the bracket, and would play DYNAMITE ACADEMY WSC 2010G in the final, who advanced on the goal differential tie-breaker over WORLD CLASS FC '10 PREMIER. With very little separating the teams in the final, Medford SC was crowned champions after winning in a penalty kick shootout.


DIAMOND

CINCINNATI UNITED CUP CUP 11G NORTH traveled from Ohio to take on some of the top teams NJ has to offer. After a 3-0 win to open the tournament over MARLTON SC CHIEFS ORANGE 2011, they won by just one goal in their next two matches, defeating SJEB FC 2-1 and MATCH FIT ACADEMY FC 2011 GIRLS SHORE WHITE 4-3. In a high scoring final vs TORPEDOES SC 2011G, CUP was able to hold with the score 3-2 and return home as champions.


RUBY

TRI-STATE EVOLUTION, champions of the Central Jersey Invitational this past summer, returned for another EDP tournament where they went a perfect 4-0-0 to win back-to-back events. After winning their first match 4-1, they kept three consecutive clean sheets with wins of 3-0, 2-0 and then a 2-0 victory over JACKSON SC VIPERS in the final.


RUBY

WORLD CLASS FC '12 KENTIMENOS and SJEB FC 12G RED met in the first game of the tournament, with SJEB winning that close match 2-1. After group play concluded, it was World Class FC vs SJEB FC with a rematch in the final. In a back and forth high-scoring match, World Class avenged their earlier loss and won the match 5-3 to finish in 1st place.


RUBY JERSEY SHORE BOCA JR FC REIGN and TORPEDOES SC RED U9G both went a perfect 3-0-0 through group stages behind their high-scoring attacks. In the final, both teams found it more difficult to break the other down, with regulation ending 1-1 and the game going to penalty kicks where Jersey Shore Boca would be victorious.
