National League Conference Teams Dominate New Jersey in National Championship Series State Cup

New Jersey loves fall soccer.

As one of the only states to have its State Cup begin play during the fall season, October is a very busy time for the typical New Jersey footballer, particularly those playing in our US Youth Soccer National League Conferences.

Of the 32 teams to advance to the quarterfinals of this year’s New Jersey Youth Soccer NCS State Cup, 29 are playing in the National League Conferences. The majority of them play in the National League Mid Atlantic EDP Conference, and the remaining teams participate in the National League North Atlantic EDP Conference.

Only New Jersey and Virginia play State Cups in the East Region in the Fall—all other State Cup competitions begin play in the Spring. EDP's 13U and 14U National League Conference teams are well underway in League play and most have just finished competing in tournaments over Columbus day weekend. Rest and recovery will be key as they prepare for NJ Youth Soccer State Cup Quarterfinals which start next week.

Speaking on the level of importance of National League Conference competition amidst a busy New Jersey Fall soccer schedule full of tournaments, showcases, and the coveted NCS State Cup, Mark Cassidy, President of Centercourt Academy, explains, "The National League conference games have been great preparations of these matches. This year’s NJYS NCS State Cup has been the toughest State Cup we have participated in. It is great to see all the best teams in the state competing against each other in a cup competition."

Bart-Jan Overmaat, Boys Director of Coaching, NJ Elite, also agrees that National League Conference play gives his teams the best development and preparation in between events such as the NCS State Cup. He adds, “USYS National League gives us the best platform week in and week out to play the best competition. We are honored to have advanced to the quarterfinal stage in a competition that has all the best teams in the state.”
