USYS Regional Showcase New Jersey Boys 2022 Tournament Recap

EDP Soccer hosted the second half of USYS Regional Showcase NJ over the weekend featuring the 15U-19U boys. Top teams from the USYS National League Conferences in the East Region were in attendance at Tuckahoe Turf Farms in Hammonton, NJ, putting their talents on display in front of college coaches. These teams now head into the back half of their season, where they will compete in Conference play and State Cup to earn their place at USYS Eastern Regional this June.

College Coaches from the Patriot League, CAA, Big East, MAAC, AAC, A10, America East, NJAC, MAC, Landmark, CACC and more were in attendance. In addition to college coaches on site, EDP Soccer partnered with SportsRecruits and Next Level Video to enhance the recruiting experience for everyone involved in the event. All games were filmed and will be made available to teams free of charge, with all teams having access to Spiideo following the event.

A look at some of the top teams from the event:

In the 18U boys age group, Cedar Stars Academy North 2004B NL continued its successful season going 3-0-0 over the weekend in winning the Platinum Bracket. USYS National League P.R.O. winners, the team entered the weekend without star player Ransford Gyan, but Kwaku Agyabeng stepped up to steal the show. The left footed center midfielder played up two age groups, and controlled each match with his dribbling, vision, and playmaking ability. The squad opened up the weekend with a 3-0 victory over the Westchester Flames, followed by a 2-1 win over White Plains YS National 2004 and closed out the event with a 3-1 win over CASA 2004M Elite.

In the 15U boys age group, Vistula B2007- Lewandowski continued to show why it is one of the top teams in the nation. In the first game, the team’s high scoring attack needed every goal they scored, as they defeated a strong Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals 07B Black 4-3. Their dynamic attack was at it again in game two, this time defeating Cedar Stars Hudson Valley 5-0. In their final game of the weekend, they defeated FC Copa Academy B07 Pre-USL Black 3-0 to finish a perfect 3-0-0 at the top of the Platinum Bracket.

In the 16U boys age group, FC Europa 2006B Elite finished the weekend at the top of the Platinum bracket with 2 wins and 1 draw. They started the weekend with a 2-2 draw vs New York Premier FC 2006B, and then defeated a well organized Massapequa SC Boltz team 2-1. On Sunday, they defeated reigning USYS Eastern Regional Finalist AC Connecticut B06 EDP National by a 2-0 scoreline. 

In the 17U boys age group, Lehigh Valley United 2005B Black LVU-FPA defeated three of New York’s top teams on their way to a 3-0-0 finish in the Platinum bracket. They defeated Quickstrike FC 2-0, Real FC 3-1 and Cedar Stars Hudson Valley 2-0.

In the 19U boys age group, Radnor SC 2003 Sporting PA and Peninsula SC Premier Eagles drew 1-1 in the opening match against each other, and both would go on to win their next two matches to finish at the top of table tied on seven points. Peninsula SC defeated AC Connecticut 2-1 and SJEB FC 4-2, while Sporting PA defeated STA 2-0 and Cedar Stars Monmouth 3-0.
