EDP Winter Classic 2021 Recap

This past weekend, EDP Soccer hosted the EDP Winter Classic for 10U-19U boys and girls teams. As the final EDP Classic event of 2021, the event provided a place for all teams to participate. This year's Winter Classic featured over 220 teams from seven different states, giving teams an opportunity to play new opponents. Over 1,400 goals were scored in 400 games played during the course of the weekend, with games taking place at Capelli Sports Complex, Iron Peak Sports & Events, Tuckahoe Turf Farms, and Green Branch Park.


A Look At The Weekend’s Results

19U Boys
VEREINIGUNG ERZGEBIRGE SC KLINSMANN capped off an impressive weekend with a win over SOCCER STARS UNITED GALAXY in the final. VE went through group play with a perfect 3-0-0 record, keeping a clean sheet in all three matches.


19U Girls
JERSEY KNIGHTS SC 2004 WHITE KNIGHTS and NORTH UNION UNITED NUU 05F FURY met in the final after both finishing group play with 3-0-0 record. In the final, the firepower of the Jersey Knights attack was the difference as they came away with a 4-1 win for the championship.

17U Boys
SOCCER STARS UNITED NEBULA was one of the most impressive teams all weekend long, allowing just one goal on their way to the final, where they kept a shutout against JACKSON SC BLACKHAWKS to be crowned champions.


17U Girls
MATCH FIT ACADEMY FC 2005G MERCER ended the weekend as champions, winning every match including a defeat over WUSC in the final to win the Fishin’ Pier bracket. In the Yacht Marina bracket, SFL FURY started out with a draw, but rebounded to win three in a row to finish first place.


16U Boys
PIPELINE SC NORTH rebounded from an opening game loss to MANALAPAN SC BRAVES to advance to the final where they would take on a 3-0-0 CEDAR STARS MONMOUTH NE ACADEMY side. PIPELINE SC kept their momentum of two straight wins going to give Cedar Stars its only loss of the weekend by a scoreline of 3-1. Other champions in the age group were VULCAN FC UNITED and THE FOOTBALL ACADEMY NJ FA 2006/07B BLACK.


16U Girls
PHILA UKR NATIONALS 06G BLACK advanced to the final after a head-to-head tie-breaker over TORPEDOES SC where they met with MIDDLE COUNTRY UNITED who advanced with seven points. PHILA UKR NATIONALS 06G BLACK won the very closely contested match 2-1. 1776 UNITED 06G won the Shark Attack Bracket defeating PSA NORTH ELITE in the final.


15U Boys
UNION COUNTY FC / WSA UCFC SAMPDORIA won all four of their matches to win the championship, including three straight clean sheets, and a 2-0 victory over NJ NATIONALS FC in the final. Other winners included VOORHEES SA VORTEX, COMMACK PREMIER, and SFL 2007 WHITE.


15U Girls
LOWER MERION SC FURIA and CAPS CHELSEA 07 met in the final, with both teams entering 3-0-0 and Lower Merion SC came away as champions of the Boardwalk Bracket, and PSA PRINCETON ELITE ‘07 won the Beach Umbrella bracket.

 

14U Boys
After a big opening game win, WORLD CLASS FC ‘08 ECNL had close wins of 2-1 and 2-0 to reach the final where they defeated YMS 2008B CELTIC NL 3-1 to win the championship. PDA HIBERNIAN MATTHAUS WHITE won the Sleet bracket defeating STA MT OLIVE 2-0 in the final.


14U Girls
In a rematch of the opening game where PENN FC defeated STA MT OLIVE, the final saw STA MT OLIVE flip the result to win the championship. In the other bracket, NJ NATIONALS defeated PSA MONMOUTH 3-0 in the final. 


13U Boys
In a battle of 3-0-0 teams, WORLD CLASS FC '09 ECNL defeated PDA ECRL in the final. BROOKLYN UNITED 2009 NATIONAL and FREEHOLD SL WARRIORS also won championships in the age group.


13U Girls
JERSEY SHORE BOCA JR FC O'HARA continued their very impressive Fall season with another EDP Tournament championship, defeating NJ NATIONALS FC 2009 GIRLS to win first place. DEEP RUN 2009G BLUE won the Off-Shore Breezes bracket.


12U Boys
WORLD CLASS FC '10 NYCFC BLUE finished out their undefeated weekend with a 4-0 win over MORRIS ELITE B10 PRE-USL in the final. WORLD CLASS FC '10 NYCFC ORANGE were also crowned champions, defeating FC COPA ACADEMY B10 BLACK BROOKLYN in the final of the other bracket.


12U Girls
LOWER MERION SC STRIKERS 2010 came up just short in the final vs NJ NATIONALS FC 2010 GIRLS, with the back-and-forth match being very even throughout. Both sides had won all three matches leading up to the final.


11U Boys
WORLD CLASS FC '11 NYCFC BLUE defeated NEW YORK RED BULLS PRE-ACADEMY NORTH 2012 in the final, capping off an excellent weekend, winning all four matches and keeping a clean sheet in all group stage matches, before conceding their only goal of the event in the final. In the Snowflake bracket, Massachusetts AZTEC SOCCER 2011B WHITE defeated IRONBOUND SC 2011 FORCE in the final.


11U Girls
NJ NATIONALS 2011 GIRLS defeated NJ PREMIER FC 2011G for the second time in the weekend to finish in first place of the Tropical Isles bracket.


10U Boys
Two of South Jersey’s top sides met in the final, with SJEB FC 12B RED defeating DELRAN SC JSFC 2012B in a high-scoring affair. Both teams’ attack proved tough to stop all weekend, scoring multiple goals in each match they played.


10U Girls
CLIFTON STALLIONS 2012G and EAST COAST FC JUVENTUS were very evenly matched, playing twice on Sunday with very little separating the two in both games. After a 2-2 draw in the last group stage game, East Coast FC Juventus ultimately finished in first place.
