The EDP Steel City Showdown was hosted by EDP Soccer this past weekend for 9U-15U boys teams. Part of EDP Soccer’s Summer Series, the event hosted summer programs from the area's top clubs. Teams at the event were from DTS, FC Europa, NY Red Bulls, Nxt Lvl PA, PA Dominion, PDA Hibernian, Perfect Touch Soccer, Philadelphia Union, RUSA, Silver Lake SA, South Brunswick Hi Tempo. STA, Total Soccer Academy, West-Mont United, YMS and more!
A Look At The Weekend's Results
Philadelphia Union PPP 2012 defeated New York Red Bulls RDS Showcase B2012 in the second game of the group, which wound up being the deciding factor in Philadelphia Union winning the group with 12 points, ahead of New York Red Bulls who finished with nine points.
New York Red Bulls finished at the top of Group A and Group B, which saw the two sides meet in the final. In that final match, it was New York Red Bulls RDS Showcase B2011 who was able to defeat New York Red Bulls RDS Showcase B2011 White.
In the Steel division, Philadelphia Union PPP 2010 and Total Soccer Academy ‘10 Ronaldo both entered the final group stage game 3-0-0, with the match-up to decide the championship. In a high-scoring match, Philadelphia Union won the division with the 7-4 win. In the Iron division, PDA Hibernian Ream defeated NESA 2010 Elite in the final.
STA-MUSC 2009 Boys NL EDP was the only side to finish the group stage with a 3-0-0 record, and would continue their great form in the final, where they defeated Union Youth NJ Select 2009 Gold.
PDA Hibernian Lahm and Ikanic Sports 08B both dominated the group stages of the Steel division, going 3-0-0 on their road to the final. PDA Hibernian Lahm would prove to be the division's top team with a 3-1 victory in the final. In the Iron division, Rahway Youth Soccer Jet Select 2008 dominated each game on their way to claim the championship.
PDA Hibernian Scholes Red and RUSA FC B07 Gold both finished the group stage 3-0-0 without conceding a goal on their way to meeting in the final. In that final match, RUSA won the battle of the New Jersey clubs to be named champions.
Philadelphia Union PPP 2006 drew 2-2 with Lower Macungie YA United in the final group stage game which would keep them level at seven points, but see them through to the final on goal differential. There they would take on PDA Hibernian Scholes White, who reached the final coming off two wins after a draw in their first match. In a high-scoring final, Philadelphia Union PPP 2006 was able to edge out PDA Hibernian Scholes White to be crowned champions.
