USYS Regional Showcase New England 2021 Best XI Girls

EDP Soccer has announced the Best XI from last weekend’s USYS Regional Showcase New England event. The selections were made based on the performance of the players during the tournament. Congratulations to all players who were selected.

The Best XI from the USYS Regional Showcase New England are:

New England Surf State Navy 2008 - Chloe Leng #7

Leng played a pivotal role this weekend occupying the role of the #10. She was an attacking threat that provided goals and assists throughout the weekend and led the team to score 14 goals. Leng, along with the rest of the team, showed their creativity, ability to attack in numbers and courage in front of the goal.

Rhode Island Surf G2007 Academy Sky - Emma Kucal #3

Kucal is one of those types of attacking players that makes the defense change the way they play. Her first touch along with her initial burst of speed and technical ability makes her a threat every time she's on the ball. Kucal led the team in scoring this weekend with three goals and one assist in a very competitive bracket. The heads up play of the RI Surf keeper and back four was integral in the build-up to get the ball at Kucal’s feet as much as possible.   

NJ Premier FC 2006 - Paige Thomas #13

Thomas scored one goal and added a couple of assists over the weekend. She created several chances making runs down the flanks, and was a constant threat in front of goal.

PatriotS FC Girls 05 - Una McCorry #14

McCorry was an integral part of a back line which did not concede a goal in the whole showcase. Her calmness on the ball and ability to build play from center back was vital as well as contributing a goal in the final game.

NJ Premier 2005 - Anabel Makutonin #21

Makutonin was a rock in the back line, organizing her teammates and helping the team to allow just one goal in their three games. Her fantastic positioning and ability to read the game was invaluable to the team. She was extremely comfortable on the ball, making numerous fantastic passes and helping the team build out of the back.

Alleycats 2005G NL EDP Red - Bridgette McLoughlin #33

McLoughlin played center midfield and center back, recording a hat trick in the team’s second game of the weekend. She was a standout all weekend long, creating opportunities on the offensive side, winning 50/50 balls in the midfield and working back to help the back line keep two clean sheets.

SDA Utica 04 Blasters - Olivia Lindsay #21

Lindsay was dominant from the right wing all tournament but it took her moving into the center forward position to get the team their first goal of the tournament. Her aggressive attacking play on the flanks made it tough on the opposing teams’ back line. She consistently beat defenders with both speed and physical play to create her own shots and when needed, Lindsay was able to create several chances for her teammates with service into the box. Her best attribute this weekend was her high energy and hard work rate which had a great impact on her team’s play and success. 

Seacoast United Mass South 2004 Elite Girls - Mya D’Antonio #17

D’Antonio played every minute in all three games, and was a constant threat attacking from wide positions. In the team's second game, she scored a goal and added two assists.

Nirvana 360 FC Illusion - Casey Stowell #9

Stowell is a dominant central midfielder who overwhelmed opponents with her work rate. She provided a creative attack and also a relentless pursuit of the ball on defense. She had tremendous delivery from midfield, and even with high pressure and drawing multiple defenders to her, she was difficult to stop.

CFC North 2003 Regional - Kaitlyn Suller #11

Suller was dominant on the wing all weekend long. She was a handful for the opposing teams and put constant pressure on their back lines, consistently beating defenders with her technical abilities and pace. She scored five goals and had two assists from open play.

Juventus Academy Boston 02/03 EDS South Girls - Emma Pereira #4

Pereira had several great performances, including scoring the game winner against Seacoast United in a 1-0 win and the second goal in the team's first game against Galway Rovers that ended up as a 2-2 draw.
