In May 2018, the Juventus Academy Boston launched with just five teams. Now in 2020-2021, the club is has over 25 teams in EDP Leagues across multiple regions and states. The club is based in Massachusetts and operates in Worcester, Greater Merrimack Valley, North Shore, Metro West, Greater Boston, Southwest, South Coast, Coastal, and most recently in Rhode Island. The club's Elite Development Squads (EDS), bring together top players from across the regions to participate in the US Youth Soccer National League New England Conference.
The club was started by Bill Altieri, who has been coaching soccer since the early 1970s, and has been a staple in the New England soccer scene. Altieri has surrounded himself with a top staff, including Girls Director of Coaching Brad Furnival, Boys Director of Coaching Matt Hardiman, and Technical Director Ziggy Korytoski. Under the direction of the staff, coaches instill the Juventus Way. This methodology includes five pillars including Style of Play, Technical Ability, Tactical Ability, Mental Factor and Emotional and Social Factor. The style of play is to keep possession of the ball and stay calm and to focus on individual initiative and collective hard work. Technical ability is honed through dynamic drills that aim to perfect every technical skill. The development of each individual player is placed at the heart of every exercise.
The clubs methodologies are paying dividends, as teams find success in the inaugural season of both the USYS National League New England Conference and New England Club Soccer League (NECSL). The 08 EDS Boys are currently 5-0-0 in the New England Conference Premier I and are in first place. The 07 EDS Boys and 07 EDS Girls are also in the New England Conference Premier I division, and are fighting for spots towards the top of the table.
One of New England's fastest growing clubs, Juventus Academy is excited for the future, and is hopeful of having the club represented at the USYS Eastern Regional Championships in June 2021.
