Over the next two weekends, EDP Soccer will host the EDP Cup Fall, annually ranked the top event in the nation by GotSoccer. The first weekend, October 10-11, will feature the 9U-16U boys, and the second weekend, October 17-18, will feature the 9U-16U girls. The boys weekend will be at Tuckahoe Turf Farms in Hammonton, NJ and Iron Peak Sports & Events in Hillsborough, NJ, and the girls weekend will also be played at Tuckahoe Turf Farms in Hammonton, NJ.
Teams from MLS Academies, USYS National League Conferences, MLS NEXT, Girls Academy, EDP, ECNL, and Elite Academy League will all be in attendance, creating a best vs. best experience as clubs compete against different platforms. Local MLS Academies New York Red Bulls and Philadelphia Union will both have multiple teams in attendance. Several players have gone to play for these MLS clubs after competing in EDP, including Kenan Hot (PDA/Red Bulls), Serge Ngoma (NJ Elite/ Red Bulls), Dantouma Toure (Red Bulls), John Tolkin (Ironbound/Red Bulls), Nestor Cabrera (Bridgewater SA/Red Bulls), Brenden and Paxten Aaronson (Real Jersey FC/Union), Mark McKenzie (Delaware Rush/Union) Caden Stafford (Syracuse Development Academy/Union), Jackson Gilman (West Mont/Union), and Brandan Craig and Quinn Sullivan (Fishtown/Union).
Importantly, EDP Soccer will be following strict health and safety protocols, and continue the use of the innovative scheduling that proved to be effective during the summer events. The schedule format includes back-to-back game times that provides for important social distancing protocols and the ability for tournament operations staff to properly sanitize as needed between groups leaving and entering the facility. EDP Soccer is also continuing the use of its new field layout for the weekend, which creates extra space between fields to ensure teams and spectators have the ability to distance themselves. Home teams and their supporters will be positioned on one side of the field and away teams and their supporters on the other side to limit commingling of participants. In addition, home teams stay on the same field for both of their games as this technique reduces the need for team movement across the facility.
