As teams in Anne Arundel County in Maryland looked for a way to get the players back on the field this Fall, EDP  Soccer looked for a way to find a solution. And it came up with one as EDP Regional Manager Jim Oman worked with local soccer impresario Denison Cabral to make soccer possible for these young players this Fall.

Sharing their love of futsal, they created a 5v5 league for 8U-10U teams in Severn, Maryland. Cabral had an illustrious professional career with 100 appearances for indoor team Washington Warthogs and over 350 appearances for Baltimore Blast, and is now giving back to the community working with youth players.

“There’s nothing more exciting at this difficult time for everyone than seeing the kids back on the field playing and having fun. We thank EDP Soccer for including us in this process and we look forward to working on many youth soccer/futsal projects together,” Cabral said.

Each weekend, games are played in a controlled environment at Severn Christian Church. Teams from A3, Benfica Academy, FCI, Maryland United, Maryland International and Severna Park each have teams participating in the league, allowing the clubs in the area to collaborate to create the best atmosphere possible.

"Soccer was great today, very organized, well spaced, lots of signs. Great job this morning!” said Gina Hollweg, A3 Stockport U8 Boys Manager.

Following the league's second weekend of games, teams are enjoying the format and environment, and are looking forward to the rest of the season.
