This past weekend, EDP Soccer held the second half of the EDP Fall Kickoff NJ, featuring the boys side of the event. The event was held at one of the premier tournament venues in the Northeast — Tuckahoe Turf Farms in Hammonton, NJ. Following a rain soaked Saturday, Sunday saw the teams enjoy a beautiful day of soccer. With health and safety protocols in place, each team was able to continue their preparation as the 2020-2021 season gets started.
Innovative scheduling that included back-to-back game times also provided for important social distancing protocols and the ability for tournament operations staff to properly sanitize as needed between groups leaving and entering the facility. EDP Soccer also continued the use of its new field layout for the weekend, which created extra space between fields, ensuring teams and spectators had the ability to distance themselves. To limit commingling of participants, the home teams and their supporters were positioned on one side of the field and away teams and their supporters on the other side. In addition, home teams stayed on the same field for both of their games. This technique reduced the need for team movement across the facility.
“EDP did a fantastic job this weekend after reluctantly having to cancel some of Saturday's games. They rearranged the schedule to provide us with 3 back to back games on Sunday. This resulted in less time waiting around and more time playing. The tournament was so well organized, from arriving with temperature check, separation of both teams/parents and plenty of stations to sanitize. You can always rely on EDP to provide a high level tournament with the best facilities. We look forward to the next event over Columbus weekend!”
— James Jacobs, STA-MUSC Head Coach
“To be able to have our boys play their first games as a team at this event was a tremendous opportunity for our boys. With the quality that the event brought from the teams to fields, we could not have asked for much more. We look forward to future EDP events and appreciate the opportunity to participate.”
