Cedar Stars Academy Monmouth has become known as one of the top clubs in the country. The club is one of many who got their start in the EDP League system, and now have teams in the Girls Academy and the MLS Youth League.
On the girls side, one of the big reasons for the clubs success was the addition of Andrew Giallambardo to the staff. After growing up playing soccer in Monmouth county for both Battle of Monmouth and Manalapan SC, Giallambardo went to play for the prestigious Southampton FC Academy. During his time with Southampton, Giallambardo was coming through their Academy with some of the top players in the world, including Gareth Bale, Adam Lallana, and Theo Walcott. While at Southampton, Giallambardo was also a member of the U17 US Soccer National Team, where he played alongside Jozy Altidore and many of the other stars of today.
When Giallambardo returned from England, he used the knowledge he had from top class coaches and fellow players, and began his coaching career. After stops with SST and FC Copa, he joined Cedar Stars Academy Monmouth, and is now the Girls Academy Director. Giallombardo has put together a first class staff for the upcoming season, including Zone 1 director Niko Stefanides, who previously spent the last 7 years with Lehigh Valley United creating one of the best programs in the region and leading several teams to State Championships. Joining Giallombardo and Stefanides are several well established and state championship winning coaches including Lee Pollard, Greg Weibolt, Tom Napoli and Joe Kent.
Moving into 2020-2021, Cedar Stars Academy Monmouth is excited for the upcoming season, and with the teams playing across all the top league platforms, the clubs will be able to place players in top college programs all around the country.
