This weekend opened up the Spring 2020 schedule for the US Youth Soccer South Atlantic EDP Conference, which is one of 13 Conferences under the US Youth Soccer Leagues Program in the Multi-State Tier.

The South Atlantic EDP Conference consists of teams primarily from Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia, with the top teams in the Conference earning advancement to the US Youth Soccer Regional Championships, a part of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series, as well as a chance to earn a coveted spot in the National Tier of the Leagues Program, the US Youth Soccer National League.

During this weekend, two key matchups took place.

The Arlington 2002B Red and Alexandria SA 02 Boys Red opened up the 18U Boys Conference Premier I Blue bracket.

The two teams battled it out in a close game, however, Arlington 2002B Red narrowly defeated Alexandria SA 02 Boys Red by one goal and a final score of 2-1.

Chris Ross, Coach of Arlington 2002B Red, stated after the game, “We had a good competitive game against Alexandria, we’ve played them once or twice this year already and always have a very competitive match against them. We were fortunate to win. These games give us the extra chance to stay sharp and be prepared, as we go into Regionals and the second leg of National League this weekend in Vegas as well. We’re looking forward to the rest of the season in our EDP Conference. There’s a lot of good teams and some new ones we’ve never played before, who were looking forward to matching up against for the first time.”

The 15U Girls Conference Club v Club bracket commenced with a back and forth battle between SAC/BA Pre-Academy and Maryland Rush 05G, with 5 different players scoring throughout the game.

Ella Sheridan opened up the game with the first goal, followed by another SAC/BA Pre-Academy goal from teammate Ginny Sung, to put them ahead of the Maryland Rush 05G, 2-0.

Maryland Rush 05G soon responded with two goals of their own from Grace Mitchell and Gemma Tamburri to tie the game at 2-2.

SAC/BA Pre-Academy would break the deadlock with a goal from Chahine Mikayla, closing out the game 3-2 and giving SAC/BA Pre-Academy the win.
