EDP Announces Strategic Partnership with United Soccer Coaches as “Official Supporter of College Coaches” at United Soccer Coaches Convention

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ (January 21, 2020) --- Elite Development Program’s (EDP Soccer) strategic partnership with United Soccer Coaches as “Official Supporter of College Coaches” was activated at the annual United Soccer Coaches’ convention in Baltimore, January 15th through 19th. 



This partnership becomes an important element in the EDP Pathway to College™ programming, which encourages and supports high school student-athletes participating in EDP’s soccer leagues and tournaments as they prepare for college or other higher educational opportunities. 



“Research shows that the vast majority of youth soccer players will go to college and many of these student-athletes will play soccer in college,” explained Steve Shilling, Founder and CEO of EDP Soccer. He continued, “Therefore, EDP wants to ensure that in addition to providing great playing experiences we make available resources to assist student-athletes and their parents in navigating the college selection and recruitment processes. College coaches are integral to the Pathway to College™ and United Soccer Coaches has worked with and supported college coaches for over 75 years. So, our partnership with United Soccer Coaches is a perfect way for EDP to support college coaches.”



As “Official Supporter of College Coaches,” EDP is the presenting partner of the newly deployed digital college coaches planning calendar available on the United Soccer Coaches website. The year- round calendar is a helpful tool for coaches that includes all United Soccer Coaches awards deadlines. College coaches will also have the opportunity to request important dates to be added to the calendar. Additionally, the United Soccer Coaches monthly college coaches’ newsletter offering useful news, content and links is now presented by EDP.

United Soccer Coaches Convention


In partnership with EDP, the United Soccer Coaches debuted the “Professional Development Certificate: The Collegiate Coach,” which was available for the first time to 2020 convention attendees. In conjunction with the College Advocacy Group, this certificate is designed to provide college head coaches and college assistant coaches of all levels education programming dedicated to their unique off-the-field needs.

EDP’s Pathway to College™ programming includes:

  • Showcase tournaments to which college coaches are invited.

  • Educational seminars at these showcase tournaments for parents and players.

  • Soccer Scout online software that matches student-athletes with appropriate colleges and provides corresponding financial aid information.

  • Organizational and video services provided by Scouting Zone, Next Level Video, and Hudl to assist student-athletes who do want to play in college connect with college coaches.



In addition, the EDP Foundation, funded by EDP, provides college related experiences for student-athletes, including:

  • College nights at EDP affiliated clubs for parents and players.

  • College combines that allow college coaches to watch players showcase their talents.

  • Academic scholarships for which student-athletes can apply.

  • On campus games so student-athletes can have first-hand college experiences.
