Roberto Aguas, the Executive Director of Coaching at FC Copa Academy, explains the importance of Futsal competitions like the NJYS Futsal State Cup Managed by EDP, to his club and players.

He states, “We’ve been part of EDP Futsal for about 8 to 10 years. We’ve always been a big Futsal club. So, when we started Futsal years back, there were very few Futsal clubs in New Jersey and for us, we treat it very differently than other clubs. Our goal, to continue to participate with EDP leagues and in the State competition, is to play with the best teams. We’ve been very honored to have won several state cups and regional titles. For us, this is a huge part of the development of our players, but it’s also a great outlet for those players that are incredibly creative that wants to be able to express themselves at the speed of Futsal.”

Aguas continued to explain, “Our goals are always the same every year. To bring out players technical skills to higher levels and new heights. We also obviously want to perform well at these competitions, so everything from EDP Leagues to the State Cup, we always want to try and be at the top of the table and we want to win multiple titles. The spring I think can be reflective of our time in Futsal and what we see coming out of winter into spring, we tend to do well because of all the work that we’ve done technically from events like this.”

Damari East, coach at Quick Touch Futbol expressed his sentiments about the NJYS Futsal State Cup Managed by EDP. He explained “This was a great opportunity for us to work on our teamwork and for our players to grow individually, and try to get better each game. To work on those weaknesses and for them to continue to get better as teammates and still keep their love for the game. This weekend was a great chance to develop a lot of things. Quick Touch is very grateful to EDP for this wonderful event.”
