EDP spoke more with coaches Brown and Lyon about their expectations for the event and their teams at the EDP Indoor State Cup 2020:
“I’m excited for my team. We have a new 08 team. It's a great group of girls who are all very talented. They’re all still learning and developing their games. I’ve been coaching for over 20 years and right now we're just trying to play simple, using the field and all of the players. We enjoy going forward, creating 2v1s and keeping soccer simple on the outside, serving balls in and working on player's technical aspects. Things like the players, holding onto the ball real well, creating opportunities for other people, or learning how to move in and out of space --- all those things for youth players are very important and today should help develop those skills.” Darron Brown, NJ Rush
“The great thing is we’re trying to keep our touches and form intact throughout the winter and playing in these smaller space games helps us do just that. We're focusing on working on our team shapes and movement, as well as touches on the ball. We can practice those structures here in smaller areas and build upon it, helping us hit the ground running when spring rolls around.” Matt Lyon, Torpedoes SC
