The EDP Winter Classic, an integral part of the EDP Classic Series, is a great end-of-year competition experience before heading indoors for the winter and the perfect tournament to carry players into the following spring season.
This event is held for boys and girls 9U-19U from December 7th to the 8th, 2019.
Like all of EDP’s Classic Series, the EDP Winter Classic is open to all teams wanting to compete. Consequently, the Winter Classic is regularly among the top 50 tournaments nationally in size, which creates a diversity of matchup opportunities and competitive bracketing. This means players have the chance to continue their skill development and play against other great competitors
Garrett Keys, coach at Lehigh Valley United, stated:
“This is another opportunity for our girls to get event experience in the winter months, outside of indoor soccer. Overall, we’re expecting this to be another good weekend of competition. The competition has been great at all of the tournaments we’ve been at. This is just another chance to have our players put in a challenging spot, where they can develop and learn from these games, which is crucial and most important. That’s what I’m expecting to find at the Winter Classic.”
Andrew Santos, coach at FC Copa, had this to say about the importance of keeping active during the winter season:
“I stress it a lot to the players I work with because they ultimately have desires to take this sport and continue with it to whatever their dreams and goals are. To achieve those dreams and goals, you have to work on your craft day in and day out. The competition in this sport has only gotten better throughout the years. Every missed moment to improve is a step another player is taking instead of you. So for me, it is very important for players who want to continue to grow in the game of football and reach their individual goals and dreams, to work at their game day in and day out.”
