The multiple leagues format and opportunities for progression are intended to provide readily understood pathways based on on-the-field performance that connect local, metro, and sub-regional levels of play with Florida to statewide, regional and national competitive platforms promoted by US Youth Soccer.

In summary | The EDP Florida Competitive Leagues provide age and competitively appropriate formats (7v7, 9v9, 11v11) and levels of play for boys’ and girls’ teams (8U through 19U) registered with the Florida Youth Soccer Association. What distinguishes the EDP Florida Competitive Leagues from individual leagues is that teams playing in the EDP Florida Competitive Leagues are part of a connected system of leagues. This means that there is a pathway to participation for teams in the EDP Florida Competitive Leagues based on their on-the-field performance that can take them from the local level to the metro/city level to the sub-regional level all the way up to the statewide, regional, and even national levels. In other words, the EDP Florida Competitive Leagues not only provide their own progressive range of competitive opportunities, they are also in concert with the Florida Youth Soccer Association and US Youth Soccer competitive platforms.
Team travel will vary depending on the specific league in which a team is registered from local to metro/city to sub-regional. Highly competitive teams at the older ages may earn the opportunity for US Youth Soccer Conference play, which is regional in nature, or even the US Youth Soccer National League.
Individual and team expenses in addition to the team registration fee for the EDP Florida Competitive Leagues will vary depending largely on travel requirements.
While highly competitive teams with high school age players may be interested in being scouted by college/university coaches, research indicates that most youngsters are focused on having fun as well as developing skills while playing sports. Consequently, the EDP Florida Competitive Leagues offer a range of developmental options from local play at the younger ages all the way up to highly competitive play at the older ages. We want youngsters to play soccer, stay with soccer, and enjoy soccer regardless of their level of play.
The developmental pathways provided by the EDP Florida Competitive Leagues are illustrated in the accompanying schematic. Teams progress through leagues based on age and level of play. All teams have access, therefore, to a developmentally appropriate pathway based on their results. Again, the leagues’ structure is designed to provide teams with competitive, not one sided games, and, consequently, a fun experience for the players, coaches, and parents.
In addition to the EDP Florida Competitive Leagues, EDP Soccer looks forward to making other programming available to the soccer community in Florida. For instance, in other areas of the country, EDP Soccer supports the EDP Foundation, which provides scholarships and other higher education experiences; EDP 1st Team, an all star program for both boys and girls involving advanced training and play; college combines; college admissions and recruiting seminars; EDP REP (Respect & Etiquette Policy), which emphasizes the importance of positive sideline behavior; and additional free opportunities for players, coaches, and parents.
We enable soccer players to reach their full potential on and off the field, with an emphasis on going to college, by providing a full range of the highest quality soccer-related experiences and empowering each player to select the pathway best suited to their goals.
