EDP: Well Represented at 2017 NPL Finals
EDP is very proud to have been represented by several teams at the NPL finals this year, where more than half our teams that entered advanced into the latter stages of the competition.
Congratulations to FC Copa Academy Black U17G who won their bracket in the annual national event.
FC Copa’s Roberto Aguas summed up his team and their tournament experience, stating, "Our journey starts and ends with each other believing in this one goal, to win a national championship. Throughout these years together this team has developed into a strong-willed and completely loyal group of young ladies. They have won league, state and regional titles but now they will forever be national champions. As one of the founding teams of EDP we could not be more proud to have represented our state of New Jersey and the EDP NPL league in bringing the title back home."
Congratulations also go to Manhattan SC Villa U17B for winning their bracket to take the title for the second consecutive year.
Their Director of Coaching, Ray Selvadurai, had nothing but praise for his team’s performance. “To win consecutive NPL National Championships was an unforgettable achievement for my club. We look forward to the challenge of returning for the 2018 Finals next summer.” Selvadurai was also full of praise for EDP in preparing his team for the defense of their title. “EDP provided our teams with an outstanding level of NPL competition over the course of the year that prepared us well for the national stage.”
EDP was also represented by New York SC U19B who came close and finished as runners up; Ironbound SC Fever U15B and Albany Alleycats U15G reached the semifinals round. Other EDP teams that participated in the competition included New Jersey Wildcats, Cedar Stars Academy and South Jersey Elite Barons.
Jen Marcella, EDP Executive Director of Operations, was very pleased with the performance of all EDP teams. “I'm so proud of all the EDP teams that represented their clubs and our league at NPL Finals. This event was the culmination of a long, competitive campaign for each of these teams. For so many of them to have so much success is truly a remarkable accomplishment."
Great job to all teams who participated in the NPL Finals. We look forward to another successful showing from EDP teams in next year’s Finals!
